Why do I write inspirational fiction? Because… “Salvation is found in no one else,
[than Jesus Christ]”

Bio and recent happenings

BIG NEWS! My husband and I are expecting our first child in December – a girl. We are currently working on decorating the baby's bedroom (ladybug and puppy dog theme) and trying to keep both our moms from single-handedly bringing the economy out of its slump by purchasing all baby products known to man. This will be the first grandchild on both sides and I'm sure you can imagine the level of excitement that our families are sharing with us.

Hubby and I live in Oklahoma with our three male Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Bingley (age 3), Taylor (4), and Jake (2). We're blessed to have three pretty low-key pups, so we're hopeful they'll adjust to living with a baby with a minimum of fuss. Any extra prayers to that end are appreciated though. :)

I just got back from a mission trip with our church youth group, where we spent a week in the St. Louis area working on three Habitat for Humanity homes. The teens poured a basement floor, smoothed gravel for another basement, and worked with vinyl siding. I held a few ladders (yes, I wore a hardhat), fetched water bottles, and helped make lunch every day (in the air-conditioned hotel) – thanks to the intense policing I received from both my husband and my brother who both also attended the trip. Gotta love those overprotective guys.

I'm planning to attend the ACFW conference in Denver, Colorado that's coming up in September. I went in 2007 (it was my first-ever writer's conference, too) and was amazed at what I learned, the friends I made, and what God showed me about my writing. Needless to say, I am already pumped for this year's conference!

My organizations

I am a member of ACFW and serve as the Oklahoma Area Coordinator for that organization, as well as being a member of both the OKC and the Tulsa chapters. I sometimes write reviews for ACFW's e-zine, Afictionado (you can find a link to the e-zine from the ACFW main page).

AND I am a finalist in ACFW's 2009 Genesis contest!

WIP – Work In Progress

I write romance stories because I love happy endings. I write historical stories because that's what I've always loved to read. I love imagining myself in a past time, sometimes in a distant or unique place! I write inspirational fiction because God has made my life what it is – how could I write anything else?

I am currently working on a historical romance set in the late 1890's in Wyoming. My heroine is a stubborn widow who's been made town marshal. My hero is a detective who is a little bit of a tenderfoot – and a lot out of place in the rough and tumble West. The story is mostly about falling in love, but also about finding your place (her) and finding a way to forgive yourself (him).

I also love the Regency era, but I'm not currently working on anything set in that time period.
